In spite of the fact I've lived up north for so long, I don't think I've ever tried the hot water thing in the sub-zero temps. Btw, my theory on why the new year starts in the middle of winter is that people needed another party to keep them going in the "desolate month" of January. =D Otherwise it would be WAY too depressing!
